Today the Ohio House of Representatives passed Substitute Senate Bill 64, legislation that prohibits under the offense of “criminal child enticement” a person from knowingly soliciting, coaxing, enticing or luring a child for an unlawful purpose.

The conference committee on Amended Substitute House Bill 59—the state operating budget—voted to adopt the committee report and move the legislation to the Ohio House and Ohio Senate floors.

 
 

The Ohio House of Representatives today agreed to the Senate amendments on House Bill 2, sending the bill to the governor for his signature. The legislation requires all applicants for unemployment insurance to register with OhioMeansJobs.com prior to applying for benefits, as well as requiring the applicants to make direct contact with their local Ohio Means Jobs office by the eighth week of unemployment benefits.

Today, Rep. Margaret Ann Ruhl (R-Mount Vernon) and Rep. Ross McGregor (R-Springfield) announced that the Ohio House of Representatives passed House Bill 172, which requires vehicles to slow down, proceed with caution and, if possible, change lanes when passing highway maintenance vehicles that are stopped.

Nan Baker (R, Westlake) applauded the passage of House Bill 135 through the Ohio House of Representatives, which authorizes a nonrefundable tax credit for the rehabilitation of a vacant building, for the purposes of possibly turning the once-vacant facility into a new business.

 
 

The Ohio House of Representatives today passed House Bill 23, sponsored by Representative Anne Gonzales (R-Westerville), which creates a license plate dedicated to “Ovarian Cancer Awareness” and designates proceeds from the sales of this license plate to be specified for the "Cancer Support Community Central Ohio" organization.

State Representative Gary Scherer (R-Circleville) has announced that the Ohio House of Representatives today passed Senate Bill 66, which revises the state’s Agricultural Commodity Handlers Law.
