Call on Republican commissioners to reconvene the Redistricting Commission to fulfill their constitutional obligations

COLUMBUS – House Minority Leader and Commission member Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) issued a statement today urging the Redistricting Commission to reconvene as soon as possible in order to fulfill their constitutional obligation and comply with the Court’s order. Democrats had sent a letter Friday inviting all the Republican commissioners to join them for a meeting of the Redistricting Commission this morning at 10 a.m. While both Democratic commissioners showed up this morning ready to get to work, they were locked out of the meeting room, and no Republican commissioners showed up.

Urge action on Ohio Fairness Act to protect LGBTQ+ Ohioans from discrimination

 COLUMBUS— Today, State Reps. Brigid Kelly (D-Cincinnati) and Michael Skindell (D-Lakewood), condemned the introduction of House Bill (HB) 616, the Ohio Republican version of Florida’s ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law. Under HB 616, schools could not "teach, use, or provide any curriculum or instructional materials on sexual orientation or gender identity" in kindergarten through third grade. Additionally, older students could not be taught "any curriculum or instructional materials on sexual orientation or gender identity in any manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”

Say GOP continues to stall bills despite broad support

COLUMBUS –Ohio House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington), Minority Whip Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park), Rep. Tavia Galonski (D-Akron) and Rep. Kristen Boggs (D-Columbus) issued a statement in solidarity with the sexual assault survivors and allies who rallied at the Ohio Statehouse today to urge the General Assembly to take immediate action on legislation that would expand opportunities for survivors seeking the justice they deserve.
