COLUMBUS – State Rep. Richard Dell’Aquila (D-Seven Hills) today announced that House Bill (HB) 405, legislation to provide financial relief to caregivers and families, will be receiving sponsor testimony on Tuesday, May 7th, at 3:00PM in the Ohio House Ways and Means Committee.

“I thank Chair Roemer for allowing me this opportunity to speak out on behalf of the tens of thousands of families and individuals that have struggled financially, physically, and mentally to give their loved ones a comfortable quality of life,” said Rep. Dell’Aquila. “As a former caregiver myself, I understand the many challenges that Ohioans have faced, and how those strains have only been exacerbated in recent years. As our state experiences a rapidly growing proportion of older Ohioans, more must be done to protect their at-home living and care.”

HB 405 would provide a single income tax credit up to $5K for each eligible taxpayer, allowing for partial or full coverage of costs to enhance the at-home living or create home modifications for individuals over 60 or with a permanent disability. The bill would provide a maximum of $15M annually to be appropriated for eligible taxpayers.

HB 405 would benefit at least 3,000 Ohio families and potentially more.
