Today, House Assistant Minority Whip Richard D. Brown (D-Canal Winchester) applauded the House passage of House Bill (HB) 93, legislation to modify the state’s address confidentiality program (Safe at Home), a long-held Democratic priority that allows victims of domestic violence, stalking, rape, human trafficking, or sexual battery who fear for their safety to keep their address confidential and out of the public record. 

Ohio House Assistant Minority Whip, State Rep. COLUMBUS: State Representative Richard Brown (D-Canal Winchester) has reintroduced House Bill (HB) 646 and House Bill (HB) 83 from the 132nd and 133rd General Assembly respectively, which would modernize laws governing the illegal passing of a stopped school bus. The bill would specifically allow for the use of exterior cameras to document violating motorists’ actions and would increase penalties for these dangerous traffic violations.

COLUMBUS— Today, Franklin County representatives Assistant Minority Leader Kristin Boggs (D-Columbus), Assistant Minority Whip Richard Brown (D-Canal Winchester) and State Reps. Adam Miller (D-Columbus), Mary Lightbody (D-Westerville), David Leland (D-Columbus), Dr. Beth Liston (D-Dublin), Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington), and Erica Crawley (D-Columbus) reacted to House passage of a bill (Senate Bill 311) to undermine the director of health’s authority at a time when the state has reached a dangerous peak, with Franklin County being the first county designated purple status. Announced by Gov. Mike DeWine Thursday, Franklin County is the first in the state to be elevated to purple status since the state began using this alert system.

COLUMBUS – Today, Assistant Minority Whip Richard Brown (D-Canal Winchester) announced the commencement of the final week of voting for the 2020 general election. Ohioans now have 7 days remaining to cast their ballot early in-person, return their absentee ballot by mail or at a drop box, or to vote on Election Day at their polling place. The announcement accompanies a record setting number of Ohioans choosing to exercise their right to vote early.

COLUMBUS- Today, Ohio House Minority Leader Emilia Sykes (D-Akron), Assistant Minority Leader Kristin Boggs (D-Columbus), Minority Whip Paula Hicks-Hudson (D-Toledo), and Assistant Minority Whip Richard Brown (D-Canal Winchester) sent a letter* to Speaker of the House Bob Cupp (R-Lima), asking him to assure Ohioans that their votes will be the final determinant of which candidate Ohio’s 18 electoral college votes will be allocated to, and that the legislature will not intervene to overturn the will of the voters.

Brown (D-Canal Winchester) voted “no” on House Bill 606, sponsored by State Representative Dianne Grendell (R-Chesterland), during Tuesday’s House session after the majority caucus blocked provisions that would protect essential workers who contract COVID-19 on the job from being included in the legislation.
