COLUMBUS - State Representative Daniel P. Troy (D-Willowick) today announced that the State of Ohio will provide the Village of Timberlake with $1,136,793 in funding for sidewalk installation along the north side of SR 283 and three enhanced crossings for transit stop access.

"I am just thrilled that a small village like Timberlake was able to get more than a million dollars for safety and connectivity,” said Rep. Troy. “I want to give a special thank you to Councilman Ryan Konrad for bringing this matter to my attention last year. He pointed out his concern that school-aged children had to walk along the berm due to the absence of sidewalks on Lakeshore Blvd. before crossing that busy street without any real safe crossing points. This sidewalk installation will not only provide pedestrian safety and access along Lakeshore Blvd., but will also permit the enhancement of Laketran bus stops on this busy thoroughfare. The dual benefit of vastly improved safety for Timberlake’s young children, and better and safer access to public transportation for our elderly and disabled citizens is a much needed and welcome development for the residents of this fine community. I’m glad to have helped in advocating and eventually accomplishing this remarkable state and local partnership.”

“This state funding is double our annual budget, and the largest grant we have ever received. I am thankful for Rep. Troy’s support in this effort, who was a real backer of this at the state level,” said Village of Timberlake Councilman Ryan Konrad. He went on to say, “I also want to thank Brian Blayney, District 12 ODOT Coordinator, who was imperative in helping to submit the application. My thanks also goes to Ben Capelle of Laketran for his support and local match funds. Thank you to Mayor Marra for his support of this grant.”

The Ohio Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Improvement Program will fund this project. This project was submitted by the Village of Timberlake and was reviewed by a multi-disciplinary committee with a background in funding, program management, safety, roadway engineering, traffic operations, and local programs.
