Biography
State Representative Robert Mecklenborg is currently serving his second term in the Ohio House of Representatives. He represents the 30th House District, which includes large portions of western Hamilton County.
Representative Mecklenborg joins the Ohio House from a Cincinnati-based legal firm, Hyle and Mecklenborg Co., L.P.A. A lifelong western Hamilton County resident, he is a member of the Ohio and Cincinnati Bar Associations. During the course of his career Representative Mecklenborg has had much experience in law and with Ohio’s constitution.
In addition to his law practice, Representative Mecklenborg was elected to three terms as the Law Director for the City of Cheviot, has served as the Solicitor and Prosecutor for the Village of Cleves, and has also served as an Assistant County Prosecutor.
Representative Mecklenborg remains active throughout his district through his involvement in civic and parish related activities, the Hamilton County Republican Party Executive and Central Committees, as well as the Green Township and Delhi Township Republican Clubs.
Representative Mecklenborg graduated from St. Xavier High School and received his Bachelor of Arts from Ohio University. He continued his education at the University of Cincinnati, where he received his Juris Doctorate. He was licensed to practice law by the Supreme Court of Ohio in 1978 and was licensed in Federal Court for the Southern District in 1983.
Representative Mecklenborg and his wife Jan reside in Green Township. They have three children, Jill, Rob and Laura.
Education
Representative Mecklenborg received his B.A. from Ohio University and his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati. Mecklenborg was licensed to practice law in Ohio by the Supreme Court of Ohio in 1978 and was licensed in Federal Court for the Southern District in 1983.
Responsibilities
A State Representative is an elected official whose job is to serve as a direct link between those Ohioans he or she was elected to represent and state government. In order to best fulfill this role, a representative responds to constituent concerns and works to provide solutions through legislative action. In order to best serve their constituents, a state representative attends meetings of their local civic, social and business groups in addition to responding to mail, email and telephone correspondence from constituents in their district.
